Not THAT frost tolerant

Half a row left of my wonderful savoy cabbages, much beloved of the Dig For Victory campaign, and a real winter standby. We've loved them, despite never having thought of a 'savoy' as a separate entity before, we were total converts. And of course they're frost hardy.
Well. Maybe normally they are. But -9 seems to have done for them.
Even my purple sprouting looks as if it may be struggling. What an extraordinary winter we are having.
Still. Now I know. If I grow them again and it gets this cold, I can fleece them.

How are your leeks? I remember practically living off leeks one year. They seemed very happy just to sit in the in hard frost and snow until I needed to difg them up! Lots of leek and potato soup that winter! LOL!

My leeks are surviving, but they are teeny weeny mini leeks this year! Temps dropping again this morning in freezing fog, it's not doing any of my greens any good!

How chic!

How blooming annoying! I wish I could say they were deliberate teeny weeny mini leeks, but sadly, they just got put in too late and didn't grow.
Too honest by half, that's my problem.

I knew that. I was just teasing! {g} Would cloches help at this stage?

I'm not sure anything will help at this stage !!!
No, I don't think so. N says they've done their growing and I was just too darned late with them. They're useable, just small. Acutally quite tasty. Just small!
Did I say they were small?!
How can we talk for so long about leeks?
My onion crop failed completely, and judging by the price and quality of what's about, I was not along.

Not ALONE obviously.
Also. That thing about onions was not meant to look like 'how can we talk so long about leeks?! Hey, I know, lets introduce something new and startling into the conversation ... now let me see ... hey! I've got it! ... onion shortages ....'
Cos I'm not that sad.
Really.
